Underwater Ram Jet Plans
This little-known type of propulsion was devised back during World War II. It was developed originally for use in naval submarines. The chemical engine works on the principle of the aviation ram-jet. It takes in water, adds a charge of spontaneously reacting chemical fuel and vents the resulting mass of expanding gas through a rearward nozzle. This propulsive jet drives the boat forward just as an airplane is driven forward by its air-breathing jet engines. Hinged nozzle deflectors can be added to permit braking and reversing.
From the Navy's viewpoint the system had one fatal defect. It left a trail of gas bubbles that ascended to the surface and made the sub easily detectable from the air or surface craft. For the sport or working diver this trail would be a safety feature.
Possible commercial use of this jet includes: long range cargo submarines able to cross under the Artic ice shelf at high speeeds, cutting down distance and duration of shipments from Asia to Europe and the East Coast of North America.
These engines offer long lasting, maintenance free, high performance. After all the engine is nothing but a hollow pipe with tubing to inject fuel.
Bear with me my websites at 741.com all went down... I'm trying to get the turbine plans up on 50 megs within the next few weeks. Check out our new page of free EDM (Spark Erosion Machine) Plans
